		<description>D-day:&#160;in&#160;those&#160;old&#160;days,&#160;someone&#160;deleted&#160;everything&#160;they&#160;disliked,&#160;as&#160;if&#160;these&#160;things&#160;did&#160;not&#160;exist&#160;at&#160;all,&#160;we&#160;call&#160;those&#160;old&#160;days&#160;D-day.&#160;For&#160;example,&#160;The&#160;ancient&#160;Greeks&#160;were&#160;familiar&#160;with&#160;irrational&#160;numbers&#160;but&#160;they&#160;didn&#039;t&#160;like&#160;them&#160;very&#160;much.&#160;&#160;According&#160;to&#160;legend&#160;(but&#160;not&#160;reliable&#160;history),&#160;it&#160;was&#160;Pythagoras&#039;s&#160;disciple&#160;Hippasus&#160;who&#160;in&#160;the&#160;sixth&#160;century&#160;BCE&#160;determined&#160;that&#160;the&#160;square&#160;root&#160;of&#160;2&#160;is&#160;irrational.&#160;The&#160;legend&#160;continues&#160;to&#160;report&#160;that&#160;this&#160;finding&#160;was&#160;so&#160;disturbing&#160;to&#160;these&#160;logical&#160;and&#160;rational&#160;Greeks&#160;that&#160;Pythagoras&#160;and&#160;his&#160;followers&#160;tried&#160;to&#160;suppress&#160;it&#160;by&#160;tossing&#160;Hippasus&#160;into&#160;the&#160;&#160;Mediterranean&#160;Sea.&#160;They&#160;would&#160;certainly&#160;have&#160;preferred&#160;that&#160;irrational&#160;numbers&#160;didn&#039;t&#160;exist.&#160;This&#160;was&#160;a&#160;D-day&#160;among&#160;Greeks.&#160;Another&#160;ancient&#160;D-day&#160;was&#160;焚书坑儒,&#160;of&#160;course.&#160;In&#160;sixty-five&#160;years&#160;ago,&#160;some&#160;people&#160;at&#160;a&#160;sea&#160;shore&#160;of&#160;Erope&#160;began&#160;to&#160;delete&#160;other&#160;people&#160;who&#160;deleted&#160;jews.&#160;This&#160;was&#160;a&#160;modern&#160;D-day.&#160;&#160;Hope&#160;this&#160;story&#160;makes&#160;you&#160;feel&#160;better.&#160;</description>
