Google Mail


今天给EURECA打电话，他说要发照片的原始尺寸给我，问我的信箱有多大。我立刻就想到了D给我的 GMAIL，那个可是有1G的容量。结果，他说，GOOGLE好象会看你的信呀。。。FT，我刚在GOOGLE的帮助里面看到这一条，有一个问题说：Is Google reading my email? 回答是：
Google is NOT reading your mail. Privacy is an issue we take very seriously. Gmail is a technology-based program. 我还是决定相信GOOGLE。
这个信箱，用了也就两天，觉得真是非常特别。。。和以往用过的任何WEB信箱都不太一样。现在用的还没几个人，所以什么名字都available，比较郁闷的是，他们不让我用6个字母以下的名字，我只好申请了一个 nanafan ，也不错，和我的名字就差八字那小半撇。
1、信件的显示非常别致，象卡片一样，所有的 thread 都清清楚楚，这有个新名字叫做 conversations 。
2、可以自动 refresh ，只要开着浏览器窗口，有新信件就会自动收到。
3、可以搜索，随便写个字进去，只要信件里面有的，都能找到
4，有 Snippets ，每个信件的前面几句话都显示在标题旁边，一下子就能想起来这个信说的是什么，当然，如果习惯在信里面写过长的寒暄的话，就不适用了。
5、有 keyboard shortcuts，按个 C 就可以 Opens the Compose Mail window. 等等。
6、有 Starred 信件的功能，可以 FLAG 某些特殊的信件。（这个功能好象OUTLOOK什么的也都有）。
7、自动补齐地址，比如写个 na 就出来 nana at paowang.net，当然，这个地址需要在你的 contact list 里面。
8、有 Filter 并且可以自己定义 RULES 。
9、有 Archived 功能，可以把信件打包保管。
10、暂时还不支持 Safari 。
11、有广告，和 GOOGLE 旁边的类似。
12、一切都和 GOOGLE 一样，简明。但到处都能看到 SEARCH 。
还有很多，不详细说了。
总之，这个加入的方式真别致，得经人介绍，类似 orkut.com 。。。也就是说，A认识B，他可以介绍B加入，B认识C，就可以介绍C加入。。。据说全世界的人，这样的关系，60级，就可以全部包括在内，看来GMAIL大规模流行，并不是一件遥远的事。而这个概念，现在更被虎视眈眈的VC们认为，是最值得投资的DOTCOM新模式，已经开始在加州大力挖掘了。

    是免费的。我问了朋友，他说现在好象只有GOOGLE的员工才能介绍人加入，每个人可以介绍两个人，所以我和他就被介绍加入了。我在HELP上面找到了这个：
    How do I invite others to join Gmail?

    Because we’re currently only offering Gmail as part of a preview release and limited test, we don’t have details on when Gmail will be made more widely available.
    As we make way for more accounts, we may periodically allow you to invite others to join Gmail. When we do so, you will see an invitation link in your inbox.
    To invite someone, click on the ‘Invite a friend to join Gmail!’ link in your inbox. You will then be asked to provide an email address and a personalized message to your invitee.
    The person you invite will be sent a message that includes a link to join Gmail. That registration link will be valid for three weeks and can be used to create only one account.
    Should your invitee have problems creating a Gmail account, please let us know by clicking on the ‘contact us’ link below.
    Please note that the link may not always be available. When you are allowed to invite others to join Gmail, the number of invitations that you can send will be indicated at the top of the page after you click on the link. Once you have used all of those invitations, we will not be able to immediately issue more invitations.
    We have also created a sign up list for those who are interested in receiving updates on Gmail, but have not been invited.

    6级就够了，任何两个人之间，最多六个人，就可以把他们
    联系起来了。所以这个世界真奇妙，估计再过六个月，世界
    上每个人就都有一个GMail乐。
    当然，也许Nana认识的人太多，需要60级。
